Going pretty good. Still practicing a lot at Scratch.
Got to play inside at graduation, felt like I was opening for Z-Trip.
Hand is getting better, good enough so that I can now do consistent 2 bar juggles (at 89 bpm). Been re-training my right hand drop (I was mostly dropping with my left hand to protect my right hand).
Choc mentioned today that he's going to call you back. How's your DJing?

Hey, talked to Choc yesterday about getting you back scratching at Scratch, he told me to tell you to call him and you guys will figure it out

Yeah, that's a big part of what the advanced mixing class is about, performing in front of people.
Thing I've discovered is sometimes I'm nervous and sometimes I'm not.
Sometimes I make a mistake and it rattles me, sometimes it doesn't, sometimes logistics or other people's energy affects me and sometimes it doesn't. It helps to be prepared, but my nerves are definitely fairly random. It mostly seems to depend a lot on how I initially feel the day I'm performing.
If I feel grounded/connected/focused that day then I stay that way and play well.
If I feel jittery/floaty that day it usually just gets worse and makes my beat matching take longer and my feel for mix points less intuitive. My feel for the music and its beat becomes distant.
Trick is maybe how do you quickly reconnect when you feel disconnected or maybe the trick is more how to channel the nerve energy into making you be even more connected. So far my ability to do this is inconsistent though its like I'm building a nerve energy path through experience

Yeah, only a semi-good song, but figure you could do some juggled drops with it. Cool your mixing, think its good to practice it before you're too expert of a battle DJ to have fun being a non-expert mixer. Mixing is not that hard, but being able to do it fast and when you're nervous is taking me a lot of practice

btw got you a record from the Amoeba 50 cent section, Riddle by En Vogue
Going to Scratch tomorrow I think, probably Friday and Saturday too (though unfortunately I'll be mixing boy band songs because that's my class assignment for this week)

cool thanks. Have you mixed a 4/4 record with a 6/8?
Checked out a bunch of the DJ Angelo lessons I'm going to watch again, pretty much exactly what I need for my practice-scratching-too mission I'm on now that my hand is getting better and its become clear that I need scratch technique to mix
